48th Dental Squadron: Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)

This live course will address “Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)” to support the dental providers with the 48th Dental Squadron. This course will include a lecture and hands-on exercise using a centrifuge to make PRF clots, membranes, and sticky bone.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for dentists, dental hygienists and dental technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Summarize the history of autologous platelet concentrates.
  2. Describe the implications of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in wound healing.
  3. Discuss applications of PRF in mandibular third molar extraction.
  4. Discuss applications of PRF in ridge preservation.
  5. Prepare a PRF clot by safely operating a centrifuge. (Hands-on)
  6. Use instruments and materials to make PRF membrane and sticky bone. (Hands-on)
