PHCoE's Military Psychological Health Research Dissemination Series: Medics' Preparedness to Serve as BH Extenders

Program Description: 

The PHCoE’s Military Psychological Health Research Dissemination Series is a platform to present impactful studies and aims to share cutting-edge research and innovative practices in military psychology and mental health. A presentation highlighting a research study will be presented monthly, via MS Teams, to an interdisciplinary audience.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, psychologists, athletic trainers, registered dieticians, dietetic technicians, healthcare executives, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the challenges in delivery of behavioral health care during Large Scale Combat Operations.
  2. Discuss medics' potential to serve as behavioral health extenders.
  3. Explore potential ways to improve medics' ability to perform basic BH tasks.
  4. Explain the current state of preparedness for medics' to handle behavioral health concerns.
