Anesthesia Technologist Lecture Series: Neuromuscular Physiology and Pharmacology

December 5, 2024

Program Description:

This live event is designed for corpsmen in the anesthesia department working as anesthesia technicians. Vital components of anesthesia set up and delivery will be reviewed followed by an extensive discussion on the concepts of patient populations and surgical procedures. The course will improve corpsmen knowledge of anesthesia relevant topics and prepare them to sit for the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians national board certification.

This iteration examines the transmission process of nerve impulses to muscles and the clinical relevance of neuromuscular blocking agents.

Target Audience

This activity provides a certificate of attendance for corpsmen who are working as anesthesia technicians.

Learning Objectives

1. Identify the anatomic layers of muscle.

2. Describe the path of nerve signal transmission.

3. Summarize the function of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) and the role of acetylcholine (ACh).
