HCE Vestibular Research Dissemination Platform: Augmented Reality System for Vestibular Rehabilitation
Program Description:
The Military Health System (MHS) has made investments in developing multimodal virtual reality systems that can address challenges faced by service members with vestibular and other sensory issues related to TBI. Virtual Environments have the ability to complement and enhance vestibular rehabilitation. This presentation will provide updates to current systems within the MHS.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, audiologists, physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Explain traditional vestibular physical therapy approaches and the potential benefits of integrating virtual environments
- Describe the role of virtual environments in the treatment of mTBI related vestibular symptoms
- Discuss vestibular physical therapy treatment utilizing AR-based system in a participant with history of mTBI
