Raul Mirza, D.O., M.P.H., M.Sc., C.P.S./A., F.A.C.O.E.M.

Dr. Raúl Mirza is the Director of Clinical Public Health & Epidemiology at the United States Army Public Health Center and is residency adjunct faculty for the Occupational Medicine Residency at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU). In 2009, Dr. Mirza graduated from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, and enrolled in a medical internship program at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington. Dr. Mirza completed medical specialty board training and certification in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine (2012) and Occupational Medicine (2013).
In 2003, he completed a double degree program at the University of Central Florida in Biology and Molecular and Microbiology. In 2005, Dr. Mirza graduated from Barry University with a Masters in Science in Biomedical Sciences, in 2011 obtained the USU Masters in Public Health degree and in 2012 completed a Health Policy Fellowship at the New York Institute of Technology. He is an active Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and a member of the ACOEM Scientific Advisory Council and the Public Affairs Committee. He serves as the ACOEM representative and current Chair of the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation. He has served as the President of the Maryland College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. In 2014, Dr. Mirza completed a ten-month deployment to eastern Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom, serving as both the NATO International Security Assistance Force Joint Command and the United States Forces-Afghanistan as the Preventive Medicine and Occupational Medicine Consultant. Dr. Mirza's other professional experiences include volunteer healthcare provider at Whitman Walker Health, Washington, D.C., adjunct faculty in toxicology and injury prevention for the MPH program at USU, residency lecturer for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health OM Residency, and independent medical examiner. Dr. Mirza's military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, NATO ISAF Medal, and other service and unit awards. Other recognitions include member, American Osteopathic Association Omega Beta Iota, recipient of the George Sternberg Medal for achievements in preventive medicine, and appointed ACOEM Fellow.
