Ian Shadrick, Ed.D., CVRT, CRC, FNRCA
Dr. Ian Shadrick is a Blind Rehabilitation Specialist and subject matter expert with Chenega
Healthcare Services, at the Vision Center of Excellence, at Walter Reed National Military
Medical Center. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Vision Rehabilitation
Therapy and Orientation and Mobility. He was previously a state
Vocational Rehabilitation administrator. Dr. Shadrick has 20 years of experience in
in blindness and low vision, rehabilitation and personnel preparation. He has
served as a rehabilitation counselor and vision rehabilitation therapist, blind rehabilitation
specialist, international educator, private and federal consultant to the DoD, VA and
Department of Education, and research associate at a national technical assistance center. Dr.
Shadrick holds graduate degrees in vision rehabilitation therapy, rehabilitation counseling,
orientation and mobility, and a Doctorate in Special Education Leadership and Educational
Leadership. He is a certified vision rehabilitation therapist and certified rehabilitation
counselor, and Fellow of the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association. He is currently President of the Association of Vision Rehabilitations Therapists
(AVRT) and President of the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association, and Chair of
the Rehabilitation Counseling and Employment division (division 2) of AER.
