Patrick Hickey, M.D.

Patrick Hickey is a Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician, Professor and Chair, Department of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University. Previous assignments include leadership positions at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research as Chief of International HIV Prevention and Treatment, responsible for the single largest Global Health Engagement program within the Department of Defense. Prior to that assignment, he served as Deputy Director of the Division of Tropical Public Health and Director of the Tropical Medicine and Traveler's Health curriculum in the Department of Preventive Medicine at USU from 2008 to 2016. His personal research focus is on deployment and travelers' health among military service members and their families, but as the Chair of Pediatrics at USU he fosters research programs that are responsive to the emerging needs of both the Military Child, the war-fighter, and the global community that Military Pediatrics serves. Pediatric research at USU seeks to improve the readiness and welfare of service members by addressing dual threats and the novel application of results that are relevant to both them and their families. Colonel Hickey is a graduate of the Uniformed Services University and is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Disease. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America, and Fellow of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
