Program Description

This activity is a part of the Womack Army Medical Center Pharmacy Monthly Trainings. This iteration will review 2018 guidelines updates in regards to prevention and management of pain, agitation/sedation, delirium, immobility, and sleep disruption in adult patients in the intensive care unit.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Summarize Society of Critical Care Medicine guidelines for prevention and management of pain, agitation/sedation and delirium in adult patients in ICU.
  2. Compare selected medications used to treat pain and agitation/sedation.
  3. Differentiate between the assessment methods for pain, agitation/sedation and delirium in critically ill adults.
