Harlan Dorey, MD, FAAP

Born in Los Angeles, California, Navy Capt. Harlan Dorey moved frequently with his military family before finally settling in Tacoma, Washington. A Pacific Northwest enthusiast, CAPT Dorey attended the University of Washington with a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Scholarship and graduated with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry.
With a Navy Health Professions Scholarship to attend George Washington University School of Medicine, CAPT Dorey graduated in May 1999 and completed his East Coast transition at Portsmouth Naval Hospital as a Pediatrics intern in July 2000. As a General Medical Officer with 2nd Marine Division, CAPT Dorey completed tours with two different infantry battalions at Camp Lejeune, NC, before returning to Portsmouth Pediatrics residency, graduating in 2005.
CAPT Dorey currently serves as the Officer-In-Charge at the Bangor Branch Health Clinic, as well as the Director of Branch Health Clinics in Bremerton, Washington. Additionally, to fill an acute need, CAPT Dorey became the interim Chair of the DHA’s Primary Care Clinical Community on March 21, 2024, continuing to advocate for over 35,000 primary care providers and staff across the Military Health System.
CAPT Dorey is Board-Certified in Pediatrics and qualified as a Surface Warfare Medical Department Officer. Personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 Awards) and the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6 awards).
