LTC Juanita Warman Nursing Grand Rounds (Q2) 2025: Combatting Weight Stigma

Program Description: 

This event started as a Unit Practice Council initiative and was initially conducted as an annual conference. The decision to move from a one-day conference to quarterly grand rounds was made to meet the needs of the organization. The planning committee of the grand rounds seek to bring speakers of various expertise to help provide a diverse educational experience. We will have two speakers at this offering. The grand rounds are going to be held both in-person and on a virtual platform.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for nurses. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Define what is weight stigma.
  2. Explain how Body Mass Index (BMI) was and is used
  3. Evaluate one’s own implicit biases when it comes to weight

    DHA, J-7, CEPO is accredited by the Joint Accreditation/ Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) to provide this Continuing Nursing Education Course for a maximum of 2.00 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
  • 2.00 Certified Counselors (NBCC)

    DHA, J-7, Continuing Education Program Office (CEPO) has been approved by National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6955.
