Program Description:
The Clinic Management Course has been designed for Military Treatment Facility clinic-level staff responsible for overall clinic operations and management, especially Primary Care, PCMH clinics. The instruction is designed to relate sound strategies to assist clinic leaders in their management journey according to the latest policies and guidance from the Defense Health Agency (DHA). CMC is offered via Microsoft Teams. It is to provide knowledge and tools to the respective clinic leaders to execute and sustain effective and efficient clinic management constructs at their MTFs.
Target Audience
This activity provides continuing education for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and healthcare executives. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.
Learning Objectives
- Describe how MTF budget is developed and funded.
- Relate the importance of patient feedback in the clinical setting.
- Summarize MHS GENESIS roles that promote access to care.
- Understand ways to actively manage templates.
- Compare the six dimensions of quality healthcare.
- Review the role of the Practice Manager/clinic leadership relationship regarding metrics and data management.
- Utilize MHS Genesis Tips and Tricks.
- Explain acuity-based empanelment concept.
- Discuss how to optimize the skillsets of the rest of the MTF staff in providing care to the PCMH empaneled patient.
- Recognize clinic process improvement tools available to aid with process improvement initiatives.
- Integrate all prior lecture information into the improving scenario clinic performance.
- Distinguish which DHA Points of Contact (POCs) are available and how to contact them.
- Identify a process for managing change.
- Review how the DHA is integrated into Service-specific readiness processes.
- Discuss mechanisms to improve communication such as Secure Messaging, TRICARE Online, MHS GENESIS Patient Portal and Nurse Advice Line.
- Summarize which tools and resources are available for population health.
- Discuss team-based training and sustainment of standards.
- Describe staff orientation methodology/requirements.
- Relate the role of the Clinic Leadership Team relationship regarding metrics and data management.
- Differentiate between TRICARE and direct care.

Participants in this program who wish to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit must self-report their participation. To self-report, participants must log into their MyACHE account and select ACHE Qualified Education Credit.

In support of improving patient care, DHA, J-7, CEPO is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the health care team. This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 18.00 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
