48th Dental Squadron: Dental Sleep Medicine

This live course is being held to support the dental providers with the 48th Dental Squadron. The event “Dental Sleep Medicine,” includes a lecture and discussion, to address a spectrum of sleep diagnoses, including applicable devices and treatments.

Target Audience

This activity provides continuing education for dentists, dental hygienists and dental technicians. A certificate of attendance is available for other attendees.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss the key concepts which are part of sleep diagnostics including apnea-hypopnea index and respiratory disturbance index.
  2. Describe tools that can be acquired by the patient without a prescription to add to their overall treatment plan.
  3. Compare options that require a prescription from a medical professional, including the associated multi-disciplinary communication.
  4. Explore irreversible treatment options that involve surgeons, including otolaryngologist (ENT) and oral surgery.
  5. Create a plan for appointments when treating a patient with potential obstructive sleep apnea.
